Excellent post, Tony. Reminds me of Stephen King’s advice in “On Writing” — first draft is for the story to make sense to the writer, 2nd draft is for it to make sense to the world. 2nd draft is usually half the length because the world doesn’t actually need all of the context and detail to understand the story that you need to write it. This is interesting considering the length of some of his books!
